Once in a lifetime experiences are now waiting for you in Isabela, Galápagos.
At IOI, our funds go directly towards supporting the Puerto Villamil community and fostering a more sustainable Galápagos.
The natural beauty and wildlife is reason in itself to come to Galapagos, but imagine it as your playground for your studies!
So what is IOI you ask? IOI stands for Intercultural Outreach Initiative. We are a Florida-based 501(c)(3) registered, tax exempt, non-profit organization operating in the small community of Puerto Villamil, on the island of Isabela, the most rural of the populated islands in the archipelago of the Galápagos, Ecuador. Founded in 2006, our vision is to help establish an ecologically sustainable and socially stable local economy in the Galápagos by supporting education, conservation and social development for one of its most beautiful islands. We are proud to be the only organization on Isabela that is dedicated to supporting local initiatives now, in order to secure a better tomorrow. We’ve been lucky enough to have made some incredibly positive and impactful changes to the local community and are able to continue to do so with the help and support of people that want to make a real difference.
We are all guilty of taking what we have for granted—even here on Isabela. In order to conserve this beautiful place it is important that the people living here have a high appreciation for it themselves, and toward that aim we educate children and adults alike to value and conserve the beauty that surrounds them, and support local initiatives with similar goals to fortify the local economic and social development cycle. We have worked hard since our launch in 2006, and the rewards and benefits we have seen have made our hard effort incredibly worthwhile.
Our organization keeps growing, as does the value that we have brought and will continue to bring to this beautiful island. We have achieved an incredible amount but there is still so much more to do—as our aims and needs keep growing along with us! So…help us help them! Join us on our journey to conserve this truly spectacular place.
